Après la fermeture du temple, je suis allé faire une des dernières voies qui me restait à faire à Orford: Gasoline. Une voie de 30 m en endurance, c'est, d'après moi, la plus belle de cette falaise. Elle commence avec un 13a (mouillé 50% du temps on dirait...) jusqu'à un repos, suivi d'une autre section de 13a qui s'enchaîne directement dans une fin 13d.  Étant donné que je suis impatient, j'ai fait le début dans l'eau, ce qui rendait cette section plus proche de 13d!  Après, la fin demandait de l'endurance, mais surtout de la technique. Je suis tombé 8 fois à un ou deux mouvements de la fin parce que je ne plaçais pas correctement mon pied! J'ai essayé souvent à la frontale, la nuit, parce qu'il faisait trop chaud pour tirer sur les slopes du crux en plein soleil! Après tous ces essais ratés, j'ai trouvé comment placer mon pied. J'avais de la fatigue accumulée en grimpant la voie, le poids de 13 journées passées à m'entraîner et à grimper était présent tout le long! Ça a quand-même passé, malgré la fatigue et la pluie, finalement à cause d'un petit truc technique.  Dans une longue voie soutenue comme celle-là, la bonne technique est souvent bien plus payante que l'énergie et la force pure! J'aime cette voie et je la recommande a tous! Là, je prend un rest!


After the Temple got closed, I decided to go back to Orford to climb one of the few routes I hadn't done yet: Gasoline.  A 30 meter endurance link-up, I think it's the crag's best route! It starts with a bouldery 13a (wet about 50% of the time) to a rest, followed by another 13a section, capped by final 13d crux section. Since I'm was getting restless and eager to put it down, I climbed the start while it was dripping wet, which made that section feel more like a 13d! I needed some endurance to remain fresh at the crux, but most of all, proper technique. I fell about 8 times one or two moves before the victory jug, because I wasn't using the correct foot placement. I even tried it with a headlamp at night, to avoid the hot and humid conditions that didn't help with the slopy holds of the last crux. After all those failed attempts, I finally found the right foot beta. I was tired from a 13-day training and climbing marathon, and I was certainly feeling it during the redpoint. And it still went, despite the fatigue and the rain, due to a little foot trick! On a long and sustained route like that, good technique is often more important than pure power and will! I absolutely love that route and recommend it to everyone! Now, at last, it'S time to rest.

Jesus, Police, and the Temple

The Jesus project was bolted 3 months ago just right of the classic La soeur de Satan. Recently, after a few nightly attemps, I finally stuck the move that was giving me a hard time. It was a great birthday present. A few days later I was ready. In the morning I fell two moves from the top on my warm-up burn. At that moment I knew something was weird was in the air. I did four more tries falling at the crux every time.  I then knew that I had one burn left and that something was gonna go down. I decided to make a dream become reality. I was clipping the anchors on the send and we heard loud speakers asking us to get out of the forest. The police was yelling through the trees and we had to go. We went down to the parking lot and the cops and a few neighbors were waiting for us. They took our info, and told us to let everyone know that the crag was closed. Since then the temple lies in the hands of God.

Jésus, le temple, et la police

Le projet Jésus a été équipé il y a 3 mois à droite de la classique La sœur de Satan. Récemment, après quelques essais dans la nuit de ma fête j’ai finalement réussi le mouvement qui me donnait de la difficulté. Quelques jours après j’étais prêt. Le matin, au réchauffement, je suis tombé deux mouvements avant le relais. A ce moment là je me suis rendu compte qu’il y avait quelque chose de différent dans l’air. J’ai fait 4 essais de plus, tombant toujours au crux. Je savais que c’était mon dernier essai et que quelque chose allait se passer. J’ai décidé de transformer mon rêve en réalité.  Au moment ou je clippais le relais pendant mon enchainement,  on a entendu les policiers nous appeler avec de hauts-parleurs à travers la forêt. On est descendu au stationnement ou ils nous attendaient avec plusieurs voisins. On a pris nos informations et on nous a dit de faire savoir a tous de ne plus grimper sur la parroi. Depuis ce jour, le temple repose entre les mains de Dieu.
